Earth Day is tomorrow, but this is something we think about all year long. In fact, this quote hangs in Caitlin’s office as a daily reminder to be mindful of our impact:

“Companies should be active problem solvers not just focused on maximizing profits.” – Neil Blumenthal

For years, we’ve been working to reduce plastic use in our production process. We’ve even collaborated with the local university to develop soap molds that don’t require plastic lining. It’s still a work in progress, and some materials are harder to replace than others, but that doesn’t stop us from trying.

So we focus on what we can do.

Reduce what we can.

Reuse what we already have.

Recycle whenever possible.

That’s why you’ll see our soaps sitting in reused olive oil boxes from Costco, and buckets of soap scraps that get turned into our Bare Naked bars instead of being thrown away.

Running a small business means making thousands of small decisions every year. We do our best to make the ones that move us in the right direction.

When soap batches end, we save the small shreds that would normally be discarded. Instead of throwing them away, we gather them and press them into beautiful new bars.

Each batch is a little different depending on the season, but the goal stays the same: waste less.

They’re simple.

They’re practical.

And they’re one of our favorite ways to reduce our footprint.
